The Song of the Stone Tiger

When ten-year-old Thomas Spencer and his family move to the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina for the summer to help his mom recuperate after a lengthy bout with cancer, the last thing he expects to discover is a fantastic hidden world in the woods behind their house.

As Thomas explores the woods, he finds a mysterious stone tiger that comes to life when he sings. Thomas and Shalomar, the tiger, forge an unlikely bond while exploring the wonder and wildness of the woods.

After Thomas’s initial anxiety about the tiger abates, he sets out on a quest with Shalomar to find answers about his arrival in Thomas’s world and to save him from permanently turning to stone. They journey deeper into the woods, and Thomas begins to discover the wonder of the everyday sights and sounds of the forest.

As they begin to unravel the mystery of Shalomar’s appearance in the magical woods, Thomas also begins to see the woods as the source of his mother’s fantastic bedtime stories. When her condition suddenly takes a turn for the worse, Thomas and Shalomar’s magical quest becomes a race against the clock to find the hidden well which could bring healing to both mother and tiger once and for all.
