The second book in the Daughter of Arden Trilogy

Princess Maleen and her maidservant Marietta survived three years of exile in a tower only to escape and discover their kingdom’s capital, Ardenay, in ruins. Now Maleen must forge ahead and make her own decisions about her future, even though she has no idea of what has happened to her country or to her father, King Darrick. Why didn't Pandor and Prince Melanor come to their aid? What happened to King Etham and Prince Jared of Dranneth? It is soon clear that the condition of all of Arden is much worse than she or Marietta imagined. Maleen’s life is now in danger, and those she thought were friends are those she should fear the most.

Yet in the midst of her wandering, she finds new friends, and through it all she discovers that no matter what happens, the Mighty One is at work, and she can trust him.

Coming June 2023

Books have been her friends from an early age, starting with The Chronicles of Narnia and Little House on the Prairie. The fantasy of Lewis and the realism of Wilder, along with these authors’ characters and their relationships, have continued to be foundational influences in Loren’s writing. In more recent years, authors like Elizabeth Goudge, Mary Stewart, and Dorothy L. Sayers have shaped her writing style. Loren’s explorations of life and faith can be found on her Substack, Sun Shafts, and in her sporadic blog posts.
